1. What is the statistic and your observation?

Statistics on gastroenterology diseases vary significantly across regions, both globally and within Georgia. However, in recent years, the incidence of colon cancer pathologies has notably increased, primarily due to a lack of attention among the population. Early referral could help prevent complications.

2. What are the causes of gastroenterological diseases?

The key causes of gastroenterology pathologies helicobacter pylori, malnutrition, pernicious habits, frequent alcohol consumption, stress, and genetic history. 

3. Is it necessary to visit a doctor for prevention?

For healthy people, it is advisable to have a gastric endoscopy every 5 years. Since the incidence of colorectal cancer is increasing, colonoscopy and endoscopy examination of the colon are recommended for people over 45 years. It is also necessary to develop healthy dietary habits and consumption of high-fiber foods with less fat and alcohol.

4. What is diagnostic method?

Diagnosis of the gastrointestinal tract is performed with flexible endoscopes by examination of hollow organs, and endoscopic examination of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, and colon. These examinations can be performed under intravenous anesthesia, reducing the discomfort and unpleasant sensations associated with the procedures.

A timely visit to a doctor and examination makes it possible to avoid complicated forms of gastroenterological diseases and reduce the scope of surgery and rehabilitation period.
