Mammalogy

One of the leading areas of the Institute of Clinical Oncology is mammology, which is led by Professor Gia Nemsadze, an onco surgeon with many years of experience.

Mammology is a science that studies the female mammary gland and different pathologies related to it.

When should you address the mammologist?

In case of detection of any suspicious sign in the mammary gland:

• Discharge from a nipple (transparent or dark color, especially bloody discharge)
• Change of breast shape;
• Skin thickening, swelling (lemon peel);
• Any dense formation;

 

Mammary gland outpatient diagnostics Include:

• Visit to a mammologist;
• Breast ultrasound; 
• Mamography, mammography with tomosynthesis;
• Aspiration biopsy and cytology;
• Corebiopsy (core needle biopsy);
• Morphological and and immunohistochemical examination
