January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.  Special attention in this month is paid to informing about the disease and understanding the importance of prevention, early diagnostics, and treatment. Pappiloma Virus, a mostly common virus of reproductive system infections is considered to be a key cause of cervical cancer. Most cases of human papillomavirus infection are asymptomatic and often resolve spontaneously. However, some infected individuals may develop pathological changes, and some may develop cervical cancer.

After the virus enters the body, in 90 % of cases it resolves in 2-3 years, but in 10% it remains as a papillomavirus infection. If an infected person has a so-called high-risk virus, cervical cancer can be developed. Timely diagnostics is the key prevention of this disease. Cervical Cancer screening is performed by PAP test which aims to detect mucosa changes that should be necessarily treated to prevent their progress and tumor development. Time diagnostics is one of the most effective methods for fighting this disease.
